Post Doc

Andryj Borys

I completed my BSc in Forensic Chemistry at the University of Kent in 2015, and then stayed on for my PhD under the supervision of Dr. Ewan Clark. My doctoral research focused on main-group heterocyclic radicals for the development of organic magnets. Following this, in 2018, I spent a year at the University of Edinburgh for my first post-doc position with Dr. Michael Cowley, where I synthesised aromatic PB heterocycles and other main-group unsaturated species. I then spent 8 months at York University in Toronto, jointly supervised by Professors Thomas Baumgartner and Chris Caputo, to explore the role of fluorescent phosphole probes in Lewis acid sensing. In June 2020, I joined the Hevia group to work on sustainable catalysis using cooperative bimetallics. Outside of the lab, I enjoy keeping fit, to compensate for my love for food and Belgian beer.
