Clarence Kang Lek Tan

I’m a PhD student from the sunny island of Singapore, a tropical city-state in Southeast Asia. I obtained my BSc (Hons) in Chemistry at the National University of Singapore in 2022. My bachelor’s thesis was on the synthesis and catalytic reactivity of Rhodium PCP carbene complexes, under the supervision of Prof. Rowan Young. I then moved to Tarragona, Spain to work on the photocatalytic halogenation of remote C-H bonds in aliphatic amines under the supervision of Prof. Ruben Martin. I obtained the MSc in Synthesis, Catalysis and Molecular Design from the University of Rovira I Virgili in June 2023. I then joined the Hevia Group in October 2023 to start my PhD in organometallic chemistry. In my free time, I like to hike in the mountains, take photos of landscapes, brew filter coffee and a variety of teas.
